About Me
I moved from Oklahoma to the Portland, Oregon area when I was 12. I am now 22 years old and a recent college graduate and ready to embark on life's next adventure. Early on in school I found my interests to be more rooted in the arts, communication, reading and writing. I've always had a love for getting to know new people and learning about their experiences. I have also always enjoyed working with children and adolescents, knowing from early on that I wanted to work with them in the future. While attending Oregon State I received my K-12 teaching license and got endorsed the Health Education with the hopes of someday becoming a high school health teacher. I am also looking into getting endorsed in Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) to teach child development.
As far as my plans go for the upcoming year, I am going to be doing a year of service with Americorp through a program in Portland called Metropolitan Family Services (MFS). MFS has installed programs that teach about leadership and wellness in schools. I am looking forward to gaining more experience in a school setting.

When I saw this sign on a light post outside a convenient store, I had to stop. I feel like this is a good representation of who I am as a person and my values. I believe that empathy and kindness are powerful qualities to have. I think that people who feel valued and appreciated will go above and beyond in their work environments to succeed.
